Promoting yearbook sales

One of the most important jobs for the yearbook committee is promoting the sale of yearbooks to the students, and collecting orders, as the more books you order the cheaper they get, so the more pages you can include! These are our top leavers yearbook promo tips...

1. SEND A LETTER HOME - WE SUPPLY THEM FREE OF CHARGE!

Perhaps the most obvious method is to send a letter home, giving students and parents an opportunity to order a yearbook. Include details of what you will include in the book, and how students can get involved to help generate excitement, and reassure them of the professional quality of the finished product.

2. USE THE POST

Once you’ve sent your letters home with students, you could do a second batch, but this time pop them in the post, addressed to the parents. Obviously you only need to send them to people who haven’t already ordered, so it needed cost much to do and can generate a few extra orders from parents who want a book but whose child isn’t currently interested.

3. POP UP A POSTER - WE GIVE YOU THESE FREE TOO!

Put up posters around school promoting the yearbook, you can use them to remind students of the order deadline or to help with collecting content.

4. PUT REMINDERS IN REGISTERS

Ask form tutors to remind their forms during registration, regular reminders will make the world of difference.

5. GIVE PRESENTATIONS IN ASSEMBLY

Assemblies are great as they give you a captive audience to talk to. Use the opportunity to get everyone excited about the book by showing them some of the content or design ideas, and remind them of the order deadline at the same time.

6. USE SOCIAL MEDIA

You can use social media in a number of ways, both to make ordering easier, and to send reminders. As a large number of students will get their parents to pay for the book, reminding them whilst they’re at home is a logical step. For example if you are using parent pay (or similar card payment option) you can link to the payment form from the site, or if you are collecting orders in school you could put a copy of the order form on your Facebook page for students to download if they lose their printed copy.

7. SET SHORT DEADLINES

Giving lengthy deadlines generally means most people will leave ordering until the last minute, and as such many will forget to order, or will lose some of the enthusiasm that you have worked so hard to generate.
