Yearbook binding options

We offer three main binding options, all of which look fantastic and have been tried and tested to ensure durability.

Softback (Aka Perfect Bound)

Perfect binding is the process of binding a book through the use of a hot melt glue which is applied to the spine edge of the pages which are in turn pressed into a printed board cover to form a crisp spine. It is the process used to bind paperback books. To make the process even more durable we 'side stab' the pages prior to attaching the cover. The result is a very attractive and professional looking book.

Hardback (Aka Case Bound)

In the case binding process we wrap the printed and laminated cover around a robust cardboard case, we then take a perfect bound book, which has been bound with a plain paper cover, and glue it inside the case. It gives a slightly more prestigious finished result than softback.

Traditional (Aka Leatherette)

Our 'traditional' option is very similar to our hardback option but rather than wrapping a printed cover around the cardboard case we use a coloured/textured material. There are many options available, from traditional dark coloured leatherette finishes to bright a funky linens and even metallic effects! Once made the covers are then hot foil embossed with a logo or text on the front, usually in silver or gold although many other foil colours are available. This option is popular with more formal book designs and independent schools.

Magazine Style (Aka Saddle Stitched)

Magazine style books are stapled (or saddle stitched, to give it its correct name) like a magazine. We use the same superb quality design and print procedures as with the other methods but this allows us to bind thinner books with fewer than 24 pages, where perfect and case binding isn't an option.
